With nine sandy beaches to its name visitors to sunny Torquay are spoilt for choice, but Torre Abbey Sands is the one that has everything. Let’s start with the location, you’ll find this sandy beach on the main seafront, within walking distance of the town centre and harbourside and just across the road from Torre Abbey Meadow.
It’s also the kind of beach that has everything you may need during a day with the family, including a cafe, an ice cream hut, a first aid hut and a lifeguard service. There’s a dog ban between May and September, and the beach is easy to access thanks to a slope at one side. If you need a beach wheelchair please contact the Beach Manager in advance and he’ll arrange for you to collect it when you arrive.
There’s limited parking along the seafront, and you’ll find a larger car park close to the harbour just a short stroll from Torre Abbey Sands. This is one of the English Riviera’s busiest beaches, and you’ll find a bucket and spade shop at the top of the slope. With a huge expanse of sand at low tide this is the kind of beach that Torquay holidays are all about, the sun, views and plenty to see and do nearby.
