This works best out of season as the area gets incredibly busy during the summer. For the best beach head to Bigbury-On-Sea which is found just to the left of the spit. The beach is a favourite with windsurfers so take care at medium to high tide!\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eBigbury is a south facing beach where any SW direction will generate a large swell, and mast high waves aren\u0026rsquo;t an unusual sight. Watch out for the strong current generated in this area by the River Avon, and also the wind shadow found at low tide in a westerly (caused by Burgh Island). Bigbury-On-Sea Beach is found in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and its water sports lure the adrenalin seekers as well as families throughout the year.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eAlthough Bigbury\u0026rsquo;s kite surfing is a big draw, we have to admit that there are also a couple of mouthwatering pubs nearby that always add to its lure! The head of the estuary is found in Kingsbridge, a busy market town packed with tradition.
