Outside is a decked area with steps up to another seating area with a Green Egg barbecue - the ideal spot to eat al fresco and enjoy warm, balmy evenings with an aperitif or two! There is a large, lawned, sloping garden, and fields adjacent where the owner’s Jacob sheep can be seen grazing. Children can enjoy feeding the sheep and lambs by hand with the special feed provided, plus there is a chicken run accessed at the top of the garden in the owner’s adjacent property where it can be arranged for you to collect freshly laid eggs. Plenty of parking is provided, as well as a bike store. The cottage is run alongside the owner’s deer farm, which is situated in the fields a short distance from the cottage. The owners would be pleased to arrange for a supervised tour of the deer farm, a rare opportunity which will be of interest to all ages.
The bustling market town of Petersfield is just a 5-minute drive away, and has a range of cafés, eateries, shops and a mainline train to London and Portsmouth. This lovely part of Hampshire is within easy reach of various sightseeing attractions, including the Goodwood Races, polo at Cowdray, Petworth House and Gardens, the cathedral cities of Chichester, Winchester and Guildford, as well as West Wittering beach. There are many picturesque villages and hamlets to visit, with lovely old inns, including the White Hart in South Harting which is a 5-minute drive away.
Other places to visit, or days out, include Portsmouth, with its Spinnaker Tower, HMS Warrior, Nelson’s HMS Victory and the Mary Rose Exhibit, the New Forest National Park, Birdworld, Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Marwell Zoo, Paultons Park with Peppa Pig World, Jane Austen’s House, Gilbert White’s House, Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium, and not forgetting a nostalgic journey back in time on the Watercress Steam Train.
