A charming yet contemporary thatched cottage close to Lulworth Cove.

Pebble Beach Cottage is a beautiful, new build, thatched cottage in the quaint village of West Lulworth.
The interior of the property is designed and furnished to incorporate its traditional features such as the thatched roof and wooden ceiling beams into the build, whilst retaining a contemporary feel.
Situated in the heart of the village, this end-of-terrace property is within a short walk of the village stores and a couple of pubs with excellent dining facilities, including the Castle Inn, a 16th century thatched tavern reputed to be one of the oldest public houses in Dorset.
Known as the Gateway to the Jurassic Coast, West Lulworth is situated within a scenic 10 minute stroll of the picturesque Lulworth Cove, a sheltered, horse-shoe shaped natural harbour.
Historically, the cove was notorious as a popular landing point for Smugglers looking to land their illicit booty. Today a fleet of fishing trawlers are based in the cove as well as pleasure boats offering scenic day voyages along the coast, whilst the sheltered position makes the cove particularly popular with beachgoers looking to sunbathe and swim.
Lulworth Cove is only half a mile from Durdle Door, an iconic natural Limestone Arch which has featured in several music videos, television productions and movies such as Nanny Mcphee.

Historic Reviews

We were blessed with wonderful weather all week so, all in all, a lovely holiday.
The sloping ceilings in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom could be a problem for a tall person and take a little getting used to. There is plenty to see and do, Lulworth cove, Durdle Dor, Weymouth and we enjoyed Wareham very much including a trip on the river Frome.

For a different view of the Jurassic coast line take a SUP or kayak tour from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door with a Geologist guide from Jurassic Coast Activities located down in Lulworths main car park.
If your feeling a little more adventurous have a go a Coasteering with the same friendly company.

The Castle Inn (turn left out of the front door, approx 400 m) were pretty unaccommodating: told that we couldn’t book a table, just had to take pot-luck on one being available when we arrived. On arrival, plenty of empty tables, all with `Reserved` signs on them - apparently they reserve them `in case residents would like to eat`. Went to The Lulworth Cove Inn (turn right, approx 400 m) instead- superb food and service - and much cheaper than the Castle.
Corfe Castle - superb ; Brownsea Island - also superb.

Very enjoyable stay, excellent location, slightly unpredictable oven (took v long time to roast a leg of lamb) but overall a great break (but too short!) - thank you!
Great stones for kids to clamber on at Portland (around Portland Bill); top village store in Winfrith Newburgh; walks in folder spot on for families with young kids

The house was in lovely condition, great location and had everything we needed for a great weekend. The parking at the rear could have been a little better in terms of space for 2 cars but overall very happy

The walk to Lulworth cove is easy & only takes 10 minutes. It’s also worthwhile doing the walk to Durdle Door from the cove

A visit to Lulworth Castle was a lovely experience, we took a picnic to sit in the grounds. Any major supermarket is a good drive away so a supermarket delivery is advised, although there is a Londis around the corner which stocks lots of necessary items. The kitchen in the property is well stocked with appliances, crockery and cutlery so no worries if you’re planning to do a lot of cooking. I would say if you have a 4x4 vehicle, you will struggle to get another car on the drive with the gates closed.
