We think a stay in Devon is as much about spending time together as it is about retreating from the hustle and bustle, and our luxury lodges make it all too inviting. Whether you gather those friends you just don’t see enough of these days or you pack the kids into the car for some time out as a family, the glory of a Devon holiday is that the county has something for every visitor.
Now let’s start with those seriously sandy beaches…there’s no denying it - Devon was right at the front of the queue when the family-friendly beaches were handed out and no matter where you stay you’ll never be far from the closest stretch of sand.
For those of you who’ve always had a hunch you’d be naturals a surfboard there’s the rugged north Devon coastline where you’ll find all kinds of surf schools to help get you on the board, whilst down in South Devon the English Riviera shimmers in all its palm-lined, tranquil beach glory.
For those “get your trainers on, we’re going out” days there are the many miles of bright red Jurassic coastline in East Devon. Perfect for fossil hunters, East Devon’s coastline has so many stories and finds attached to it that you can barely walk a mile without seeing something that’ll have you reaching for your camera.
If you fancy a windswept wander from ancient tor to ancient tor then Dartmoor National Park rolls on for more than 360 miles, and with its bright colours and rugged landscape it looks beautiful during every season.
For those interested in history, Plymouth is a must see city, after all it was the scene of Sir Francis Drake’s legendary game of bowls. However, over the years Plymouth has evolved to become the cultural centre of Devon, offering its visitors great theatre, live music, art galleries and endless choices of fun family activities.
Our selection of luxury lodges in Devon offer the perfect base from which to explore; the pet friendly Gara Mill or Salcombe Retreat is an ideal base for dog lovers wishing to explore South Devon, and Stoneleigh Village is perfectly situated from which to discover the Jurassic Coastline.
We’d recommend South View Lodges for those who wish to stay closer to the bustling hub of Exeter, although being nestled within six acres of lakes and woodland with steaming hot tubs and enchanting log burning stoves South View Lodges would make the perfect romantic break. For those wishing to stay a little further from the coast, our Indio Lake lodges are ideal for a family getaway.
