With a reputation as being one of the cleanest beaches on the Isle of Wight, Colwell Bay is one of the most popular too. The beach is mostly sandy with some shingle, and if you’re keen to try water sports during a stay on the Wight this is the place to get started. The pretty promenade stretches all the way to Totland Bay, and it makes the perfect place for a stroll as the sun beings to fade in the distance.
Dogs aren’t allowed on the beach at Colwell Bay, and you’ll find a car park beside the beach which has 40 spaces so it’s a handy stretch of sand for those with young families. On a summer’s day you’ll be greeted by the sight of deck chairs flapping in the breeze and they can be hired by those less keen to sprawl on the sand, and you’ll also find beach hits, an ice cream kiosk, public toilets and a slipway.
The Hut is one of the biggest draws of Colwell Bay, as this beachside cafe welcomes the sandy and the sunburnt into the shade where they can enjoy hot food and drink with a view of the sea. Please note that the sea wall collapsed between Colwell Bay and nearby Totland, so it’s no longer possible to walk along the beach between the two resorts.
