Forest, farmland and country estates, this is a 13 mile walk created by the Purbeck Heritage Committee. Your starting point is Wareham Quay and a mixture of landscapes and terrains takes you through to the finishing point of Sturminster Marshall. This makes for a great dog walk, as long as you take care to keep your dog under control so as not to scare or disturb wildlife or farm animals.

Keen wildlife spotters can make the most of the quiet and peaceful sections of this walk. Shy and elusive sand lizards have been known to dart around the heather, Dartford warblers, squirrels, woodpeckers, woodlark and even sika deer have been seen.

With pubs on the way, there's the perfect opportunity to stop off and enjoy a spot of lunch before taking to the paths and picking up the walk once more. Throughout the year it’s recommended you pop on your walking boots. If there’s been heavy rain we’d recommend you pack your welly boots as the route can get particularly muddy at some points. This is a glorious walk to really discover the wonderful and changing scenery, a walk that explores some of the lesser known paths and landscapes of the area.

To begin the walk head to Wareham Quay, Postcode: BH20 4LP or grid ref: SY 923 872, if you wish you can split the walk into smaller sections: Wareham to Morden is 7 miles and Morden to Sturminster Marshall is 6 miles. If you make your way from Wareham to Sturminster Marshall, you can hop on a bus and make the return journey via Poole.

https://assets.bluechipholidays.co.uk/media/catalogs/public/downloads/preview/custom_carousel/users/JosephG/2013/05/Family-walk.jpg/carousel.jpg
dorset/poole-sandbanks/wareham-forest-way-walk
https://assets.bluechipholidays.co.uk/media/catalogs/public/downloads/preview/custom_1x1/users/JosephG/2013/05/Family-walk.jpg/carousel.jpg
