Branksome Dene Beach is a sandy beach in Poole that welcomes dogs throughout the year. In fact, all you’ll need to pack is the directions to this stretch of sand and your dog’s favourite ball as we’re pretty sure you’ll be spending most of your time here.
The beach slopes gently towards the sea and as it’s the last of the beaches in Poole before the Bournemouth beaches begin it’s a quieter choice than its neighbours. Branksome Dene is a wide beach too, so there’s always plenty of space to sit and enjoy the views or walk your dog.
Lifeguards patrol the beach regularly during the summer, and you’ll find a car park right beside the beach to save a long walk from the car. The recent addition of rock groynes means there are now individual bays, so if your dog loves to stretch his legs on the sand you can pick a spot to enjoy that’s a little apart from the crowds.
Fancy hiring a bike during your stay so your dog can trot along while you pedal? Bear in mind that cyclists are welcome between Shore Road and Branksome Dene Chine from September to June. In July and August cycling is only permitted before 10am and after 6pm, so you can enjoy the dawn and dusk with a ride.
