The fifteen miles that connect the two resorts may be easier tackled over two days or several walks, but much of the walk is very easy.

Many home in on this walk for its significant wildlife and points of geological interest, and a great deal of it is owned by the National Trust. With a difficulty rating of moderate, this walk covers lots of exhilarating cliff top sections – and the views include the windswept Lundy Island and even the coast of Wales. The best place to stop and enjoy the views is at Baggy Point, also a popular spot with climbers.

Other highlights of this walk include the carpets of flowers around Woolacombe (thanks to grazing rabbits), a memorial to Tarka the Otter author Henry Williamson and the chance to pause and watch the surfers having fun at Croyde Bay. The route also forms part of the Tarka the Otter Trail, which follows the journey of the fictional otter from Williamson’s ever-popular book.

If you don’t fancy completing the whole walk you can always stop at Croyde and then turn back, which makes a six mile journey. You’ll find facilities and refreshments at Croyde Bay and Putsborough Sands along the way. Bird watchers should look out for Velator Quay, as this once-bustling quay in Braunton now attracts all kinds of river birds.

https://assets.bluechipholidays.co.uk/media/catalogs/public/downloads/preview/custom_carousel/users/102/2013/06/woolacombe.jpg/carousel.jpg
devon/woolacombe/walking-woolacombe-to-braunton
https://assets.bluechipholidays.co.uk/media/catalogs/public/downloads/preview/custom_1x1/users/102/2013/06/woolacombe.jpg/carousel.jpg
