This is a great route to try in the winter months or spring, as when other more rural sections of the path can be muddy and wet this one will be passable.

The walk is 4.5 miles long, and apart from one steady climb and several steps there are no obstacles along the way. The walk starts at Torquay harbour, on the Strand and follow the route through some of Torquay’s most affluent areas to the ever-peaceful Meadfoot Beach. The nice thing about this route is that you’ll feel miles from anywhere in places yet it’s not the longest of coastal walks. If you have time, it’s worth taking time out as you pass Kent’s Cavern to explore the prehistoric underground caves, as they make a fascinating visit for all ages.

Look out for Ilsham Valley as you continue, this may now be home to the wealthiest of Torquay’s residents but it dates back so far it’s mentioned in the Domesday Book. From Meadfoot Beach you can follow the South West Coast Path back to the harbour. You should be able to see the whole of Tor Bay from Meadfoot, including Berry Head at the tip of Brixham to your right. There are various historic buildings and Torquay landmarks to look out for as you walk this route, so check out what to look for before setting off.

https://assets.bluechipholidays.co.uk/media/catalogs/public/downloads/preview/custom_carousel/users/102/2013/06/torquay-harbour-evening.jpg/carousel.jpg
devon/torquay/the-hidden-torquay-walk
https://assets.bluechipholidays.co.uk/media/catalogs/public/downloads/preview/custom_1x1/users/102/2013/06/torquay-harbour-evening.jpg/carousel.jpg
