Plymouth Museum and Gallery isn’t just one of Plymouth’s biggest family attractions – it’s also one of the county’s most impressive galleries. The imposing building is home to a series of exhibitions that change frequently, so the gallery is constantly showcasing a wide range of artwork.
The museum’s permanent galleries are home to thousands of fascinating artefacts from around the world, including objects from Africa, Asia and Europe. Find out the secrets behind living and dying in Ancient Egypt, explore the wonders of natural history and learn about what shaped Plymouth into the city it is today. The first floor of the museum houses a stunning decorative art collection, and the China Collection gallery is vibrant space that will catch the eyes of visitors of all ages.
Plymouth Museum and Art Gallery hosts regular talks and events throughout the year. Admission to them is free but they are ticketed due to popular demand, call 01752 304774 for tickets to any events. All talks begin at 1.10pm and will last for 45 minutes. Have you got half an hour to enjoy an overview of the museum’s ever-changing exhibitions and collections? Visit at 1pm on a Wednesday to enjoy an informal tour of the highlights, and remember to book a ticket in advance (although this is a free serbice).
