This is as close as you’re ever going to get to real dinosaurs, and the exhibits include dinosaur eggs, ammonites and even dinosaur dung. Most of the fossils were excavated by Steve himself, and it’s great to see his findings displayed for the public with such thought.

The museum is housed in the very building that saw Mary Anning baptised in 1799, and as she discovered the world’s only Ichthyosaur nearby it’s the perfect setting for this collection. The Time Gallery has been carefully designed to give visitors an idea of the Earth’s history, and the sight of the Earth timeline running up a flight of stairs illustrates just how insignificant humans are in the scheme of things.

Scenes throughout the gallery show adults and younger visitors how the world has changed over time, which helps put the many fossils into perspective during a visit.
