With a hint of New England to its landscape that makes you feel a world away from home, Spring Lake is the perfect setting for that family break. Set beside a shimmering lake in the heart of the Cotswolds, the resort’s lined with timber cottages that enjoy views across the water ski lake, and what better spot for that active escape with the family?
Spring Lake’s cottages perch beside the lake, enjoying fabulous views across the water and their own privacy, and the resort has its own bar and brasserie for those leisurely dinners. You’ll probably spend your days trying new activities on the lake with the kids, before unwinding over a drink in the bar while you take in the views…sounds good? It’s perfect.
The perfect setting for a water sports break, life at Spring Lake centres around the water ski lake. Half a mile long, the lake’s used to all kinds of fun on the water between March and the end of October.
Whether you’re a seasoned pro at water skiing, or you just fancy making memories with a banana ride, the lake’s a hub of activity during the season, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to get out onto the water and see what you can do. Just make sure you book your activities in advance, as the lake gets very busy during peak season.
Bar and brasserie
With so much to keep you busy on the resort, we reckon you’ll be ready to close each day with a glass of something chilled and a plate of yummy food, and the bar and brasserie mean you don’t have to venture far from your home from home.
Being a sporty kind of resort, you’ll find live games and major sporting events on Sky and BT Sport in the bar, and there’s even an outdoor screen on the lakeside sundeck so you don’t have to give up the fresh air to keep up on the action!
For those of you who can’t quite ditch the fitness regime during your stay, you’ll be able to use the fully air conditioned gym for a small charge during your time at Spring Lake. With everything you need to burn off those holiday calories, the gym’s views manage to make working out a pleasure, and that means you don’t have to miss out on the scenery while you’re keeping in shape – hurray! Of course, with all those activities available on the water you may prefer to just stick to the fun stuff…
Out and about
Set in the Cotswold Water Park, Spring Lake is just fifteen minutes’ drive from the historic market town of Cirencester. Cirencester’s attractions include a Roman amphitheatre, the Cornium Museum, and the Brewery Arts Centre.
For those of you keen to do some shopping, the town’s historic streets are lined with independent shops, and we love the fact that there are some fantastic spots for foodies too. Or, if you fancy a wander on foot, you’ll find the friendly village of South Cerney nearby, which is home to pubs, shops and the usual amenities.
