Not only are Penzance and Porthleven themselves rather easy on the eye, but you’ll also pass St Michael’s Mount, Perran Sands and Praa Sands along your way.

Start the walk on the signed footpath you’ll find close to Penzance harbour, keep the sea to your right and start your journey following the path around Mounts Bay. You’ll soon reach Marazion and pass St Michael’s Mount, it’s possible to catch a boat over to the island if it’s high tide when you get there. Just make sure you have some money with you as the buildings on the island have a National Trust admission fee.

As you rejoin the South West Coast Path on your way out of Marazion you’ll be able to walk the track along the cliff tops, and if you look over your shoulder as you go you’ll be able to enjoy stunning views of St Michael’s Mount. You’ll continue to pass small sandy beaches and rocky coves, and as you round the headland and leave St Michaels’ Bay behind you you’ll come to Prussia Cove. Named after an 18th century ship wrecker and smuggler known as The King of Prussia, the cove isn’t far from the beautiful Kenneggy Sand.
