If Holywell Beach looks a little familiar, it’s probably because it features in some scenes of Series 2 of the BBC’s Poldark. With over a mile of golden sand backed by fluffy dunes, this beach features as the Warleggans’ beach in the hit BBC drama. As big as it is beautiful, this sandy beach is one of our favourites. There’s plenty of space to enjoy family time, even in the height of summer, and the beach is backed by distinctive sand dunes, perfect for a wander when the tide comes in.
If you fancy trying your hand at something new, the beach is a popular spot with body boarders, and there are trained RNLI lifeguards on hand to keep you safe during the summer months. Just far enough away from Newquay to feel away from the hustle and bustle, Holywell Bay’s the perfect spot for a wander in the dunes, some time on the sun, or a picnic on a summer’s day. You’ll also find Holywell Bay Fun Park nearby, so there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained.
