Fowey River Expeditions

Fowey River Expeditions

Things To Do

The waters around Fowey inspired the Wind in the Willows 'Tales from the River Bank', so the Fowey River Expedition is the perfect Fowey family attraction for getting a taste of the town. Glide between the banks of the River Fowey in the safety of an open cockpit canoe and imagine the adventures of the characters of Kenneth Grahame as you go.

You’ll pass picturesque wooded hills and National Trust water meadows as you travel several miles upstream, and while Ratty and Mole may have ended up in the water a few times it doesn’t matter if you’ve never canoed before as you’ll be followed by a safety boat for peace of mind!

Speaking of animals, the area is always busy with wildlife and you're likely to catch sight of heron, kingfishers, cormorants and wildlfowl as you make your way along. Because you'll be able to glide along silently and effortlessly you'll have the opportunity to get far closer to the birds than you would on foot.

You'll stop at either Golant or Lerryn for lunch (you can either buy some there or take a picnic in true Wind in the Willows style) and the day should take around five hours.
