Shaldon village itself has five welcoming pubs that, along with the superb views across the estuary, serve some excellent meals as well as cafés, restaurants and bistros to choose from. There is a good range of local shops including a bakery, general stores, a local butcher and a delicatessen.
A short climb to ’The Ness’, a tree topped cliff overlooking the mouth of the river will be rewarded by a magnificent view across to Teignmouth and out to sea.
