There’s an air of excitement in the office at the moment, as every now and then someone reminds the rest of us that the Torbay Airshow takes place on 3rd and 4th June. One of the biggest events in the South West, the airshow treats us all to two days of air displays that have us holding our breath, covering our eyes and reaching for our cameras all at once.
Family fun meets action worthy of Top Gun…and Torbay’s curving coastline makes it the perfect setting for the dramatic shows. The main event village on Paignton Green hosts live music, food stalls and the usual family entertainment, and there’s plenty of space to unpack your picnic and enjoy the action from the green.
To be honest, if you’d rather escape the crowds and choose another vantage point to enjoy the shows, there are plenty of spots along Torbay’s coastline where you can sit back and enjoy a great view, and one of the best things about the weekend is the atmosphere throughout the bay.
The crowds gather way before the first demonstration starts so that they don’t miss a moment, and as the rumbling of engines starts resounding around the bay you can almost taste the adrenaline in the air as the crowd get ready to watch the pilots show off their skills in the sky. So, here’s just some of what you can expect from this year’s airshow…
This year’s programme includes:
The Red Arrows (hurray)
The Typhoon jet
Battle of Britain memorial flight
