In the spirit of Mother’s Day, we’ve been thinking about our favourite ways to spend time with our mums. Spring’s here, the sun’s started to show her face again, and it’s the perfect time of year to treat mum to a lovely day making memories. So, to get you feeling inspired, here are some of team Blue Chip’s best-loved ways to spend a day with mum.

Living in Torquay, we’re never far from a walk along the seafront and a good old catch up, but me and mum tend to head towards the fishing town of Brixham when the sun shines. With its colourful fishing boats and brightly painted cottages that slope down towards the harbour, Brixham has that laidback holiday feel all year round.
There are dozens of friendly tea shops along the harbourside for that hot chocolate and slice of cake, and then we follow our feet around the coast path until we find ourselves on the beautiful headland of the Berry Head Nature Reserve.

Having grown up in the midlands, I still have to pinch myself that I live so close to the sea. And, when my mum comes to visit, a trip to the coast is always top of the list of things to do. One of her favourite places is Sidmouth.
The pretty town is full of interesting shops and cafes, so we always stop for a cake and coffee as soon as we arrive. We love walking along the seafront and past the impressive red cliffs that tower over us. It always brings back happy memories of our family holidays to Devon when I was young.

Having moved back to the homeland of Devon a few years ago, I’m lucky enough to live close enough to my mum to share days out. But my sister and her young children live further afield.
This year, we’re all spending Mother’s Day weekend together in one of our beautiful properties in Lulworth Cove, Dorset… a multi-generational Mother’s Day extravaganza!
Weekends with the Kirwan-Taylors usually involve walks on the beach, punctuated with stops for coffee and a well-researched pub lunch. I can’t wait.
