I'm the newest member of the team at Blue Chip, and I was only too happy to be invited to stay at Drake's View in Plymouth so that I could experience how it feels to be a Blue Chip guest. So, I enlisted my partner James and we visited Drakes View in Plymouth for the weekend for a quick getaway and a change of scenery. With only an hour drive in the car from our home in South Devon we found the property straight away, traffic free!
Upon arrival to the property we could see the beautiful sea and sun glistening on the Plymouth Hoe in the distance. Just moments’ walk from the Hoe Park, Barbican and Smeaton’s Tower. The location was just perfect!
When we arrived at the property we were delighted by the amazing sea views, and just to make them even more spectacular there were several navy ships docked in. As you can see, James sat on the window seat looking out to sea with binoculars and could see the sailors on the top deck of their ship training...now that's not something you see every day is it?!
Once we'd admired the views from the property, it was time to unpack our bags and move into the apartment for the weekend. Spacious and modern, Drakes View has a warm and homely feel and was absolutely spotless. The owner’s made good use of the space and you'll find everything you could imagine and more in the apartment. From that all-important fresh pint of milk in the fridge to a selection of board games and even a ps3 games console - this apartment is perfect for a couple or a family.
Once we finished our cup of tea we decided to go on an adventure, so we put our trainers, coats and scarves and we were off ready to go for a long walk along the Hoe. Breathing in the salty sea air we went into the Smeaton’s Tower which only cost a small fee and took in the beautiful scenery and we could see Drakes Island in the far right.
With all the sea air inhaled and many calories burned we started to get hungry and decided to wander down to the barbican where we had our pick of restaurants, such as Chinese, Thai, seafood, local pubs and there's even a nightclub for those who fancy a boogie!
After eating at The Glassblowing House which overlooks the harbour I highly recommend this restaurant if you fancy something special or treating someone special. The attention to detail in their food, the atmosphere and the customer service from the staff was second to one. However, with so many types of restaurants and local pubs to discover just a short stroll from the property you’ll have your pick.
All in all I would recommend Drakes View Plymouth as a great place for a couple’s retreat and for families. The property is very spacious, with local attractions, restaurants and the town centre within walking distance...not to mention the views.
