My stay at 2 Tree Tops

The perfect hot tub retreat

My girlfriend and I visited 2 Tree Tops at Stonerush Lakes for the first time after looking for a short winter break. Stonerush caught our eye as it looked very luxurious with restaurants and beaches nearby, it was also close to where we live in Devon, we loved it from the moment we arrived!

The resort and surrounding area are extremely endearing, nestled in a valley far away from any form of substantial civilization…it felt like our very own hideaway. After taking the sweeping single-track lane down to the reception you really get a sense of what Stonerush is about, quality, exclusiveness and privacy. We were greeted by extremely helpful and friendly staff at reception who made sure everything was in place for us to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay, even highlighting some of the great places and beaches to visit in the local areas of Looe and Polperro.

After getting all the information for our trip from reception, we were excited to check out our lodge for the weekend. 2 Tree Tops certainly didn’t disappoint and even managed to exceed the high expectations we had set. It sported an extensive patio area with a great sized hot tub, perfect for evening stargazing and enjoying some quality time with friends and family.

Upon entering the lodge we were taken aback by the massive living area which boasted a huge flat screen TV, a large dining table and a kitchen with all the mod cons, including a coffee machine and a portable speaker.

Moving through to the multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, the lodge had everything and more. The bathrooms were immaculately finished with local soaps and shampoos provided, it’s the little things that make a big difference and there were certainly lots of these scattered throughout the lodge. The highlight of the lodge for us was the master bedroom, which had large patio doors leading to the decking and hot tub area, with a great sized en suite as well.

On our first evening we wanted to make the most of the facilities at our home from home, so wasted no time and spent it relaxing in the hot tub before watching a film and sitting in front of the fire with a glass of wine. On our second day we ventured to the local town of Looe, which is little more than a ten-minute drive away. I highly recommend visiting Looe, it’s a beautiful setting with the river running through the middle of it out to sea.

Looe also has many quaint shops and restaurants so it’s a great place to go in both the daytime and in the evening. After this we ventured just a little further around the coast to Millandreath where we ate at the Black Rock Café, the food was divine. In the evening we decided to walk some of the coastal path, starting from Looe beach, with the weather becoming much more favorable we witnessed a beautiful sunset before heading back to the lodge for another few hours relaxing in the hot tub watching the stars sail by.

Our overall weekend and experience at 2 Tree Tops was superb, and you have the choice of being able to do as much or as little as you want. With the lodge being in such a favorable location, you can either go out and spend some time getting lost in idyllic places such as Looe and Polperro, walk and experience some of Cornwall’s most scenic and beautiful coastline or curl up in front of the fire with a glass of wine in hand and watch a film. The choice is yours!
