My perfect Easter retreat

A relaxing break at Beyond Escapes, Devon

On a wet and windy Easter weekend we made our way to Beyond Escapes at Berry Pomeroy for a few days - a last minute treat to escape!

We arrived to a warm welcome at reception, picked up our keys and made our way to Lodge number 8. Quickly getting into the spirit of a weekend away, we feasted on the yummy cream tea and chocolate Easter egg left for us by the team.

To celebrate our first night, we proceeded to the bar and restaurant and were entertained by the bar team with innovative and tasty cocktails as well as a great choice of wine with our pizza dinner – we can thoroughly recommend the Italian red! Happily full of good wine and traditionally stone baked pizza, we made our way back to our home for the weekend.

Despite the weather we ventured out to Berry Pomeroy castle on Saturday, the most haunted place in the UK. For the history lovers, there’s a great audio tour that talks about the castle’s interesting past and its many supernatural sightings! The café outside has the best vegetable soup we’ve ever tasted so make sure you stop for a bite to eat when you visit.

Sadly on Monday we had to leave, we packed our bags, dropped our keys back, and promised to escape again!
