As I parked up in one of the two underground car parking spaces at Grantham Court, I knew it would be special as it is perfectly positioned next to Prince’s Green and right on the waterfront. As I entered the apartment I was taken aback at how stylishly furnished the apartment was – you can tell the owner has discerning taste!
The first thing I wanted to do was venture out onto the balcony and admire the view of the Solent and the activity from the Red Jet going back and forth to Southampton, and the sailing yachts tacking and gybing. The owner has thought of everything and has even installed an outside heater so even in the colder evenings you can sit outside and enjoy a few tipples.
Back inside the lounge there is an Alexa, blue tooth speaker system, turn table and a curved 60inch TV with SKY Q, so I was not going to get bored if the weather turned.
The bedrooms were luxurious; the master bedroom had a wall mounted picture TV with SKY Q, plenty of storage, super comfy zip and link beds (7200 pocket springs to be exact!) and en-suite rain shower. The second bedroom, also zip and link, has a bathroom opposite with a bath and shower over.
I decided to grab something eat so I took the 5 minute walk along the sea front, past the Royal Yacht squadron to the High Street where I was not short of places to eat. You’ll find fish and chips, pub food, Indian restaurants, gourmet burgers and fine dining, or the local M&S.
As a non yachtie I can appreciate what draws visitors to the Island. Cowes is vibrant and has a lively atmosphere at any time of year. On the second night I walked along the sea front to Gurnard and came across a lovely beachside café and pub called The Woodvale. If I had children, I’m sure they’d love playing on the pirate park or crabbing on the beach. If I returned in the summer I could see myself stand up paddle boarding! The sunset was stunning!
For anyone wanting a luxury base close to Cowes with stunning sea views, Solent View Apartment is the one!
