There's nothing quite like the iconic British sporting event of Cowes Week!
This year the regatta will take place from 4 - 11 August, and for the 100 000 or so spectators that are expected to turn up, it is undoubtedly going to be as fantasic as ever.
You don't have to ever have set foot on the deck of a boat to appreciate the amazing atmosphere, but since it's introduction to the British sporting calender in August of 1926, the regatta has become famous for being one of the UK's longest running and most successful sporting events to date.
The prestige of the event has seen appearances made by many personalities including British and foreign royalty, and the 8 day schedule includes 40 daily sailing races from 8000 sailors with up to 1,000 boats.
The races can be enjoyed from shoreside on The Green or Cowes Parade, and if you're happy to get your sea legs on, spectator boats are a great way to get up close to the action out at sea.
There is also a fantastic line up of entertainment for both day and night, closing with a thrilling fireworks display on the final day of the Regatta.
This year for the first time, Lendy Cowes Week will feature the Lendy New Generation Music Stage on Cowes Parade, to showcase some of the UK's best crowd-funded bands.
The bands include the multi-award winning Rainbrakers (British Blues Awards 2017), whose roots hail from the Isle of Wight; Little Brother Eli, a recently featured artist on BBC 6 Music; and the Theia, winner of the single of the year 2017, among others.
So for a full week of thrilling entertainment on the gorgeous Isle of Wight, head over to the Lendy Cowes Regatta - I'll see you there!
