Introducing Clowance Estate

A beautiful estate in the heart of Cornwall

It’s always exciting to visit a new resort for the first time, in fact seeing beautiful new properties and locations is one of the real perks of the job.  My fellow Blue Chippers and I made the short journey from our Exeter office down to Clowance Estate just outside Cambourne.  Immediately we were all impressed by the entrance and as we drove through the beautiful grounds towards reception you couldn’t help but remark that it was a little bit special.

We had a warm welcome from the team onsite and settled into the restaurant / bar area for a coffee, where we sat and took in the views of the grounds and the lake. Then the fun part, off to see the properties. We set off through the grounds, passing the tennis courts and netball / basketball court on the way and made our way to one of the glass lodges on the edge of the park. The outside alone is stunning, with the A frame lodge recently being refitted, incorporating lots of stone and glass to give the lodge an ultra-modern feel.

Inside the lodge, the standard of the finish and furnishings are remarkable, the light is plentiful and the atmosphere inviting. As we spent more time in the Glass Lodge, we started to notice some truly one-off features. The high ceiling in the living area is complete with a mural of gulls and sky.  We are told an artist was commissioned to paint the detail onto the ceiling and there are other paintings in the mezzanine room. The wall above the twin beds has Neolithic style paintings and the den area also has some more animals with a puzzle incorporated into it.

As a father of three I know only too well that kids will love these little touches and they will form part of the conversation throughout the holiday. Outside there is a private hot tub and extensive seating area to be enjoyed.  What a start to our tour…

We move on, full of excitement about what we have just seen and realise we are on the way to the lakeside for our next stop. As we pass the children’s playground, your eye is drawn to the boathouse, where guests can make use of rowing boats on the lake in the summer. It’s included in the price of the holiday, you just need to get vests from reception. In fact, we’re told that all activities are included in the price of the holiday except for treatments at the spa. That means guests have the chance to Segway, enjoy a park ranger experience, play tennis and row on the lake, all included in the price…a great addition to the holiday I’m sure you’ll agree.

Then we arrive at the Treehouse, yes, an actual Treehouse!  It’s still in the process of being finished, but we get a quick walk through and its fair to say we’re excited about the prospect of guests having the chance to book this.  From the balcony, there’s a great view of the lake, and the outdoor copper bath is going to be a show-stopping feature on what I‘m sure will be one the most talked about properties in Blue Chip Towers during 2018. A treehouse holiday is definitely on my list over the next few years, it will be an adventure that the children will talk about for the rest of their lives.

On through the stunning grounds, there are 96 acres of woodland and grounds to enjoy and I’m told it’s an arborator’s dream - and you can see why when you walk through the grounds. We arrive at St Austell Lodge, and it’s another ‘wow factor’ property. The space inside the property is more than generous and I’m immediately imagining a holiday here. The master bedroom has a wonderful balcony which has views over the outdoor area, hot tub and golf course beyond.  It’s another stand out property and I am starting to run out of superlatives to use as we continue our tour.

We get to see some of the future arrivals we to look forward at Clowance…the Coach Houses and the Gate House. Both will be ready around April 2018, the plans are exciting and we know the from what we have seen already that the standard is going to be phenomenal.  Both properties have some historic significance and the fusing of traditional and modern will provide an eye-catching spectacle.

With the tour finished, we enjoy a lovely lunch in the restaurant and are left to ponder which property was our favourite (or whether the best is still to be finished).  One thing we can all agree on is that Clowance as a resort has some wonderful facilities and spectacular grounds. The properties are first class and with the option of a daily changeover service and much more included the service aspect is certain to match.
