10 perfect properties for a little 'you' time

We’re celebrating hygge this autumn, and as this cosy Danish concept is all about wrapping up warm and indulging we thought we’d help you all to join us in the spirit of cosiness.

We have hundreds of cottages that could have been made with hygge in mind…with everything from flickering wood burners to sit and watch, to simmering hot tubs that welcome the weary.

So, here are 10 perfect properties for a little bit of 'you' time…

1. Laburnham, Cornwall

With panoramic sea views and an interior that looks like a page from a lifestyle magazine, Laburnham’s the perfect Cornish retreat for two. Grab a blanket, light the wood burner and enjoy the sight of the sea outside, and the dog's welcome too.

2. 1 Field Place, Isle of Wight

With period features that’ll have you feeling all Downton, 1 Field Place combines character and charm with the kind of homely feel that’ll have you reaching for your slippers and ready to snuggle.

3. Couthy Butts, Isle of Wight

We know right? You couldn't imagine a prettier little home from home if you tried, and what better place to wrap up, wind down and just forget the rest of the world for a few days of serious hygge than the chocolate box cottage Couthy Butts?

4. Mythra Cottage, Devon

Every inch the traditional Devon cottage, our beautiful Mythra Cottage may have period features throughout, but its contemporary touches make it the perfect place to relax with that special someone.

5. Blackbird Lodge, Somerset

This one's for those of you who instantly pictured a hot tub when you heard the word 'hygge'. Blackbird Cottage is a stylish eco lodge in the beautiful Cheddar countryside, and it has its own inviting tub of bubbling bliss.

6. The Sheep Pen, Devon

Set on a working farm in rural Devon, The Sheep Pen is a beautifully converted barn, and if your idea of true time out is being in the Great Outdoors then it's the perfect base for cyclists and walkers.

7. Holly Cottage, Yorkshire

Holly Cottage has three features that make it the perfect place to celebrate the art of hygge...a hot tub, exposed wooden beams that ooze period character, and underfloor heating. No, we can't think of anything else you could need either.

8. The Chapel, Somerset

Once an actual chapel (no it isn't just a pretty name), The Chapel makes a quirky yet beautiful property to spend a few days away from the madding crowd. With centuries of history to its name and a picturesque setting in the Somerset countryside, it's a dream come true.

9. Chisel Barn Whites Ground, Dorset

Right in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Chisel Barn Whites Ground is light, airy and spacious, so if your idea of a little pampering is to spend a few days with the people you love the most it's the perfect pad.

10. St Clair, Devon

St Clair is Grade II listed cottage set in one of the most wooded parts of our lovely Devon. Dogs are welcome along too, and its features include an inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove and a rather impressive roll top bath.
