Described as “a Michelin-starred must-do” by foodie critic Marina O’Loughlin, The Pipe and Glass is one of Yorkshire’s true foodie triumphs. Bright, chic and elegant, this friendly restaurant’s held onto a Michelin Star since 2010, and if you’re staying at the nearby North Star Club then we’d say make sure you visit.
The lovely thing about The Pipe and Glass is that you’re as welcome if you just fancy a sandwich and a pint as you are if you want to sample the Michelin evening menu. You can choose whether you dine in the bar or the restaurant, and there’s a set menu and a specials board.
If you visit on a sunny day, sit outside in the garden and enjoy the views across the Dalton Estate, and make sure you look out for the yew tree that’s said to be 400 years old. The gardens supply much of the produce that makes it into the restaurant’s dishes, and there aren’t many eateries where you can dine al fresco in the garden that grows the produce.
