Visit Skipton and the odds are you’ll visit on a market day – there’s one held on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. There’s been a market in this historic Yorkshire town for hundreds of years so if you fancy browsing your way around a friendly, traditional market during your Skipton holiday then you’ll have plenty of opportunity.
The stalls can vary slightly from week to week but most are open from around 9.30pm until 4pm, and – good news for all Christmas lovers - there’s an extra special yuletide market held every December. The stalls offer everything from local produce to crafted gifts so you’ll be able to stock up on souvenirs and treats for those back home as well as goodies to sample a real taste of the county. There’s always a fairground for the children too, and we have to say it only makes the town feel even more Christmassy.
The Christmas market’s held on the first two Sundays of December each year, and the medieval theme makes this a fun place to get into the Christmas spirit and join the fun. The market doesn’t always go ahead on wet weather days so check the skies before setting off!
