The Dales are alive with the sound of music this month, as Ripon hosts the Ripon International Festival. The festival runs until 21st September and includes live performances throughout the city. If you love all kinds of music then you’ll have your pick of live acts throughout the festival, as it welcomes jazz acts, orchestras, flamenco, folk artists, chamber concerts, recitals and choirs to perform live in venues across Ripon.
Venues include Ripon Cathedral, some of the city’s ancient churches, Markenfield Hall and all kinds of village halls and quirky settings in and around the city. No matter which performance you opt for, the opportunity to enjoy it in a unique setting means the festival’s all about experiencing music in a way you’ll never forget.
The festival’s highlights are set to include the London Mozart Players with the violinist Jennifer Pike (performing at The Royal Hall in Harrogate). With its medieval cathedral and unspoilt scenery, Ripon makes a picturesque backdrop for this celebration of all things musical, and if you’ve yet to visit the city it’s the perfect excuse to discover one of Yorkshire’s best-loved destinations.
