Catterick Racecourse

What's On

Catterick Racecourse is just a twenty minute drive from Leyburn, and that means a day out with a difference is within easy reach for the whole family. Discover the thrill of the races at one of the northern racing scene’s most important courses and join in with the traditions that make every event one to remember.

Races have taken place at Catterick Bridge since as far back as the mid 17th century, and the first meeting to be recorded was held in 1783. These days, the racecourse perfectly blends the charm of the old style with the comfort of the new, and you can still see the framework of the 1906 stand in today’s Grandstand.

Catterick isn’t just one of Yorkshire’s busiest courses, but it’s also one of its most popular. This is the course that jockeys love to ride and spectators love to visit, and it offers a friendly welcome whether you’ve been before or are visiting for the first time. There are 27 meetings held every year, with at least one taking place every month and the New Year’s Day meeting kick starts Yorkshire’s racing year in style.
