Harwood Dale could have been made for long peaceful walks…with its vibrant landscape and the kind of scenery you’ll only see in Yorkshire there’ll be no question of whether to walk during your stay, only of which one to start with.
Hidden Harwood Dale is a nice way to find your bearings and see a little more of the area, and as this route doesn’t stray far from the quiet dale off the beaten track it’s likely you’ll complete it without bumping into another soul. You can’t go wrong with this one as it’s really just a question of starting at the village church and following the road north – just make sure you pop into the Mill Inn along the way as it’s the friendliest pub in the valley.
Don’t worry about following this walk too strictly, the dale doesn’t cover a very large area so you can’t really get lost – this trail’s mostly just a case of exploring the pathways that take your fancy and seeing a little more of the dale itself on foot. This is one of the most peaceful walks in the Dales, so if you’re content to just wander along and listen to the sound of your own footsteps then it’s perfect.
