Grassington may look every bit the quiet Dales village but it actually plays host to some of the biggest names in entertainment every year. The Grassington Festival has been going for more than 30 years and runs for two lively weeks every June, so if you time your visit right you’ll find the Dales alive with the sound of live music.
The decades may have seen the Grassington Festival become bigger and stronger each year but its ethos remains the same, and it still showcases local talent as well as famous faces so its audiences get to see some of the finest performers in the region.
The rolling green hills that envelop Grassington echo with the sounds of live music for the last fortnight of every June and one of the highlights is always the performance in the field marquee. This is the kind of festival that offers something for everyone, and it includes singers, bands, art, visual displays, workshops and creative theatre performances.
The festival is part of the annual Yorkshire Festival which runs for 100 days each year. The event’s performances are stages at various venues throughout the village, including the town hall and Grassington Square, so it’s always a unique experience and a great way to enjoy time in Grassington.
