Picture yourself standing on the perfect sandy beach and it won’t look much different than Filey Beach. This is the stretch of Yorkshire coastline where you’ll find golden sand heading as far as the eye can see and the kind of unspoilt beauty that makes it easy to lie back, close your eyes and just enjoy being on the beach. This long expanse of sand rolls on for five gorgeous miles, and the historic promenade that runs behind it only adds to its charm.
The nice thing about a beach that rolls on for mile after sandy mile (other than being able to shake out your towel without showering the family closest to you) is that it means plenty of room for activities as well as relaxation. Filey Beach comes with all the trimmings of a bustling seaside resort, including deckchairs available for hire, nearby shops and access for the disabled. There's also a lost child service.
A visit to Filey Beach on a warm summer’s day will probably mean you’ll see sailing classes taking place, and the pony rides available throughout the summer mean children can live the dream and enjoy a trot along the shore during their visit. For rock pooling, wander to nearby Filey Brigg which is also the starting point of the Cleveland Way Walk. For a walk close to Filey Beach, pick up its unique Sculpture Trail.
