Saunton SandsJust over half an hour’s drive away from Westward Ho! Saunton Sands is a great alternative to Westward Ho! Beach is you decide to venture a little further one day. The sandy beach is 3 miles long, and is famous for Braunton Burrows which runs behind it – a huge network of picturesque sand dunes perfect for walks and picnics! The flat beach and grassy dunes make this a lovely beach for children, and there is plenty of shelter for those who just want to lie down and relax. Happily, dogs are permitted on certain areas of the beach, although if you do wander from the crowds be aware that occasional naturists take advantage of the dunes!
