Weston-super-Mare Grand Pier reopened in 2011 following a redevelopment, and it’s full of amusements and entertainment for all ages. Due to its size, Weston-super-Mare Beach is often host to events, including T4 Live on the Beach every summer, the Sand Sculpture Festival and many more. There are donkeys on the beach throughout the summer, and children have enjoyed plodding along on the friendly award-winners for generations. Here’s an interesting fact to impress your fellow beach-goers with, Weston-super-Mare has one of the world’s largest tidal ranges, reaching up to 15m! Please don’t try to cross the mud at low tide as it’s very easy to get stuck.

Burnham-on-Sea BeachBurnham-on-Sea is well worth visiting during a beach holiday in Weston-super-Mare, and it’s only a twenty minute drive. Burnham Main Beach is mainly sandy and it’s safe for families due to a lifeguard service during peak seasons. Don’t worry about dragging your little ones from their donkey rides by having a day out from Weston-super-Mare Beach – they do them here too! This is a lovely beach for swimming and paddling, but it’s risky to head out to the sea during low tide. There’s a dog ban at this beach throughout the whole year.

Brean BeachIf you do decide to venture a little further afield for the day during a Weston-super-Mare beach holiday, Brean Beach is another sandy gem to bear in mind. This beach forms part of one of Europe’s lengthiest stretches of sand, and it’s perfect for a family day beside the sea. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby for refreshments, as well as a car park area. Low tide reveals a huge expanse of sandy beach, perfect for games, walks or just sprawling in the sun! This is a dog friendly beach too, so it’s a popular one with those on holiday with their pet.
