A stunning lodge in the South Downs

We spent 3 weeks staying in 'Maple Lodge'. The lodge itself is beautifully appointed and brand new inside. It instantly felt home from home. We've stayed in lodges previously in the new forest, and this lodge far exceeded our expectations. The owners couldn't do enough to help if we needed it, and also provided a most welcome 'welcome basket' upon arrival which was a very nice touch. There are currently only 3 lodges on the site and they have been positioned to provide virtually total privacy. Lovely views of the South Downs from the lodges. The lodge's location is a 15 minute walk from Hassocks station which is on the main London to Brighton line so you could easily use public transport to see the area, however I would say having a car here makes it much easier to explore the area, plus the nearest supermarkets, shops and pubs are a reasonable walk away if you are having to carry heavy shopping bags. The only things that we could think to improve the site further would be private outdoor hot-tubs for each lodge, and also a children's play area somewhere in the grounds for children to burn off some energy. Overall we spent avert enjoyable 3 weeks here and would certainly recommend the lodges.

Luxury with A view

I stayed at Maple Lodge for four nights in late November, not as a holiday, but to break a little writer's block. It worked like a charm. I found a very high quality, eco-friendly, well-appointed lodge waiting for me. There was a warm and friendly reception, lovely welcome basket, comfortable bed, gorgeous wood burner and a magical view of Ditchling Beacon. I saw the warnings about possible noise for the football pitch but it was very quiet indeed. Highly recommend Maple Lodge if you are looking to connect with the beauty and mystery of our Southern Downs from a luxurious vantage point.

Maple Lodge, Hassocks

We stayed at Maple Lodge, Hassocks for a short break over the Christmas period and were joined by our two adult children. The Lodge itself is beautifully presented and very well equipped, i.e. kitchen and bathrooms. Everything was immaculate. It wasn't all about the look though. The beds were comfortable with a good quality linen and the water pressure on the showers was very good. We were able to really relax which for us was the whole point of our stay. We were met by Sara the owner of Maple Lodge upon arrival. Warm, friendly greeting and showed us round the lodge and explained the workings of the cooker etc. The lodge is one of three set in large park like grounds with a secure entrance. Each lodge is quite private and we had great views over the South Downs. Would highly recommend.

My booking with Blue Chip was great, very easy and straightforward. The only difficulty was choosing which gorgeous property to rent!

My holiday with Maple Lodge was wonderful. The accommodation was lovely, modern and classic, whilst staying very simple. The beds were comfy and the showers were great. The location is great, being not too far from Brighton itself, but staying far away enough to feel like you are in the countryside. I especially appreciated the small touches, like a basket of cake, biscuits, bread, tea, coffee and sugar, as well as a jug of milk a small chunk of butter that greeted us on our arrival, to ensure that we weren't left hungry on the first morning of our stay. I would definitely stay again, and recommend to my friends.

Maple Lodge a Family Haven

The thought of taking two under fives for a weekend to attend a family wedding was viewed with trepidation. maple Lodge was a perfect base for a young family. The welcome pack was amazing, and a warm welcome on a rainy. Friday in July. The lodge was spotlessly clean, the towels and Facillities generous. A very comfortable weekend, a short stroll from the station and the garden centre cafe was a brilliant addition. The garden provided a lovely open space with the downs in view for the youngsters to enjoy. Both tranquil, modern and well presented. We all really felt we had got away from it all Thank you, we cannot recommend it enough!

Sue and Alan

Stayed a Maple Lodge for 4 nights for Alan's birthday treat. Beautiful lodge with lovely views of the downs. Quality throughout and a lovely place to take our great dane Poppy. NIce fluffy towels and bath robes provided as was a welcome pack of tea, coffee milk, biscuits, bread and butter and a cake. The lodge had everything we could have wished for. My only gripe was that the mattress in the master bedroom was not comfortable but we resolved this by moving into the second bedroom where we both slept like logs. I would highly recommend South Downs Lodges and we will certainly visit again in the future.
