Fistral BeachNow for another famous Watergate Bay beach! Fistral Beach is known as the surf capital of the west. In fact, the annual Relentless Boardmasters surfing championships are held on this famous beach, attracting thousands every summer. Fistral Beach is so large that it’s often known as three sections, South Fistral, the main beach and Little Fistral, although Little Fistral only appears when the tide’s completely out. There’s plenty of sand for those on beach holidays, although Fistral Beach is better known for its surf.

Mawgan Porth BeachMawgan Porth is a slightly smaller Watergate Bay beach but it’s still got plenty to offer and always attracts the crowds! The beach is found 4 miles from Newquay, and it’s easy to see why this is another popular location for surfers and families enjoying Watergate Bay beach holidays. There is a lifeguard service here during summer, so you can enjoy the water safely, and another advantage for those on pet-friendly holidays is that dogs are welcome all year round. Take care not to try swimming or surfing at low tide here though, as it can be risky.

Newquay Harbour BeachThis isn’t the largest of the beaches in Watergate Bay and Newquay, but many find that it has the silkiest sand, and as it’s still a working harbour there’s plenty going on to sit and watch. Watch behind the fishing boats when they return to the harbour, as several seals often follow them! The best thing about this beach is that it’s very close to the centre of Newquay, so if you don’t have the whole day and you just fancy a picnic or walk on the sand, then this is perfect.
