The National Cycle Collection

Things To Do

If you’re a keen cyclist you’d probably already worked out that the wide open countryside of Wales is perfect for life on two wheels – but did you know that it’s also home to The National Cycle Collection? Top off a cycling holiday in Knighton by immersing yourself in this museum dedicated to everything to do with cycling for an hour or two and discover the history of bikes.

Have you ever wondered how big the wheel of a penny farthing really is, or just how painful the first bikes were to ride? Well, this is the place where you can find the answers to all your cycling questions, The National Cycling Collection is even home to a mock historic street (complete with a country garage) so visitors can wander along it and feel just how rural life was all those years ago.

The museum is home to some of the earliest bikes such as Penny Farthings and Boneshakers (the name says it all doesn’t it...) as well as modern models. There’s an exhibition hall packed with displays on bike racing and the stars of the cycling world, so this attraction is a must for anyone with a love of life in the seat.
