The Knighton Show & Carnival takes place every August - and it sees the town become a flurry of activity as it exhibits local horticulture, vintage cars, horses, dogs and local produce. You name it, you’ll probably see it at this much-loved family event, and it manages to include the traditional favourites as well as plenty of new things to see and do each year.
The Shire horse competition is always a highlight and sees horses from all over Wales take part and show off their finery for the crowds. The sight of them in their traditional harnesses and brasses isn’t one many of us get much opportunity to enjoy these days, so if you get the chance to see it make sure you don’t miss out. The horses don’t only brighten up the showground but they’re also paraded through the streets of Knighton, making a spectacular sight.
The Knighton Show is one of those events that seems to get bigger every year and it’s always a great day out for adults and children. If you want to be in town for the carnival that coincides with the show it starts at noon and then parades its way past again later in the evening. It’s always packed with local talent and proudly shows visitors what Knighton life is all about.
