Set in four acres of beautiful gardens, Babbacombe Model Village has always been a firm family favourite when it comes to Torquay days out, and this attraction has definitely mastered life in miniature. Somebody behind the scenes at the village has a hilarious sense of humour, and half the fun of a visit is spotting the tongue in cheek scenarios, names and fiascos as you wander the sloping grounds.
The 4D cinema adds to the fun, and there’s always a seasonal short film to experience before you’re let loose on the smaller version of the world. Babbacombe Model Village may be a small kingdom, but it’s always up to date – and this year’s newest attraction is the Shard which comes complete with evening illuminations throughout the season. As the attraction marks 50 years of making visitors feel like walking giants, the Shard illuminations are set for evening openings for those who want to experience the village after nightfall.
Speaking of which, it may look pretty by day but the Halloween tours see the model village transformed into an eerie attraction where nothing is as it seems. Suitable for the whole family, the tours take visitors behind the scenes in the ghostly spirit of the season, so look out for the dates throughout October.
