We love Churston Cove, and although it’s tucked well off the beaten track it’s one of the most beautiful little coves in the whole of South Devon. To reach it, you need to follow a winding path that can be steep in places, but if you don’t mind the walk you’ll be rewarded with the kind of secluded little beach the Famous Five would have set up camp on and had an adventure.
Dogs are welcome all year round, so it’s a favourite with local dog walkers, and the safe waters mean this sand and shingle little beach is ideal for those with young children keen to escape the crowds. There’s a peaceful atmosphere at Churston Cove that draws groups of friends for long sunny afternoons (and the odd barbeque) on summer’s days, as well as walkers content to take in the spectacular scenery that surrounds the beach.
In one direction you’ll see wooded hills that slope down to the beach, and in the other you can take in panoramic views across Torbay, and to top it all off the sea’s so clear you can see your toes!
