Poldark MinePoldark Mine is not only a Lizard family attraction, but a glimpse into Cornwall’s past too. The guided tour of the 18 century mine enables you to follow in the footsteps of the local men who once worked the tin mine, and it’s open between April and October. If you fancy making your adventure slightly more sinister, book yourself on one of the evening ghost tours of the mine, where you’ll be led around the tunnels by candlelight. The ghost tours of Poldark Mine operate in April, July and August. Unfortunately this attraction is unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Helston Folk Museum
If you’re keen to learn more whilst you’re staying in Cornwall, then Helston Folk Museum is the Lizard family attraction for you. The museum is one the largest found in Cornwall, and is housed within the town’s former Market House which dates back to 1837. The expansive exhibitions reflect the history of the Lizard Peninsula from both a personal and an industrial viewpoint, and the artefacts include a cannon salvaged from the ill-fated HMS Anson. Admission to the museum is free.

The National Seal SanctuaryThe National Seal Sanctuary is a delightful attraction on the Lizard! The sanctuary is home to a variety of lovable seals and other sea mammals, all of whom have been rescued. The sanctuary is open all year round, except for 25 December. As well as the seals, otters and sea lions to greet, there are also farm animals in the sanctuary too, so children in particular will be in their element! There’s also a new pirate play area for the younger visitors to enjoy, making The National Seal Sanctuary great for the whole family.

FlambardsFlambards is the leading family attraction on the Lizard Peninsula, and it’s great fun for all ages whatever the weather. The theme park is home to rides, play areas, exhibitions and an aviary, so you’ll find more to do than you have time for during your visit! There are often some familiar characters from children’s TV roaming the park, as well as free entertainment and special events to look out for. Above all, Flambards is great value for money too. The attraction opens between April and October, so please check opening times before setting off.

Trevarno Country Estate GardenThe Trevarno Country Estate and Garden is a more tranquil Lizard Peninsula attraction. This beautiful estate dates back to 1276 and is home to spectacular gardens, stately grounds and wooded walks. There are more than 70 acres of gardens, including a bluebell valley, Victorian boathouse, sunken Italian garden, summer terrace, great lawn and more. Visitors lose themselves amidst the inspiring setting, and the National Museum of Gardening has plenty to explore. The Trevarno Estate also has a new playground to keep little ones busy.
