Mullion CoveMullion Cove is a great option for those planning dog-friendly beach holidays on the Lizard Peninsula, as not only does it offer a striking sandy beach at low tide –but dogs are welcome all year round. The cove is reached via a little tunnel from Mullion Cove harbour, and there’s plenty to see. If you look up at the cliffs around Mullion Cove you’ll see unique Serpentine rock formations, and a walk along the cliff tops is a great way to admire the wild plants that grow there. Dogs are allowed on the beach, and there are amenities in the harbour area nearby.

Kynance CoveKynance Cove has long been THE place to enjoy a Lizard Peninsula beach holiday, as its whitewashed sands and gleaming waters first became popular in the Victorian era. The cove has enough hidden caves and dramatic views to rival an Enid Blyton novel, and has found itself the muse of many an artist. This Lizard beach is so popular that the National Trust created a new road to the large car park nearby, as the beach was once difficult to reach. The car park is just 10 minutes walk from Kynance Cove, and there is a beach cafe and a toilet at the beach too.

Cadgwith CoveIf your idea of the perfect beach holiday on the Lizard looks like a pretty little cove on the edge of a traditional Cornish village then it’s got to be Cadgwith Cove for you. Perfect for families, visiting this modest shingle beach is much like stepping into a postcard, and the sight of crabbing boats patiently perched on the beach beside the boat houses is a quaint one. If you've got the car, there’s a car park just a short walk from the beach, and please note that there is a seasonal dog ban between Easter and October.

Poldhu CoveThis Lizard Peninsula beach is not only a favourite sandy beach with families, but it was also the unlikely scene of a significant moment in history. In 1901, the first ever Trans-Atlantic radio signal was sent from Poldhu Cove, changing the shape of communication. Aside from its place in the history books, Poldhu Cove is a spectacular area of the Lizard, and there are some beautiful walks around the beach. There is a dog ban on Poldhu Cove between Easter and October, and you’ll find a car park just beside it. Lastly, the beach cafe at Poldhu Cove is well worth a visit!

Polurrian CovePolurrian Cove couldn’t be more perfect for Lizard Peninsula beach holidays, as its miles of soft sand and its secluded location give the beach a special atmosphere. Families choose this silky ribbon of sand for their beach holidays year after year, and with a seasonal dog ban during high season it’s ideal for letting young children enjoy time by the sea. One thing to bear in mind is that the closest convenient parking for this beach is around 10 minutes walk away, in the village of Mullion. So if you’re thinking of coming by car, it’s best to limit the baggage if you have little ones to transport!
