Goosey FairThe longest running Tavistock event is its annual Goosey Fair, which has taken place on the Second Wednesday of October since the year 1823! The fair probably got its name from the days when residents would attend to buy geese ready to fatten up before Christmas, although these days it has more a family atmosphere to brighten the start of Autumn. Local schools close for the day so that children can join the fun, and market traders convene from miles around. There is plenty to entertain the huge crowds of visitors to this special Tavistock event, including fun fairs, rides, candyfloss, a hog roast and plenty of cider!

Tavistock CarnivalThe annual Tavistock Carnival takes place on the August bank holiday and never fails to draw the crowds. The historic town becomes a colourful sight as floats, bands and clubs parade through its streets to raise money for local charities each year. The most inspiring float is recognised each year with the ‘Best in Procession’ title, so each group works hard on ttheme and appearance. There's always lots going on, and the Tavistock Carnival is one of the greatest annual family events in Tavistock. Don’t forget some loose change to donate to your favourite floats and your camera to capture the spectacle!

Tavistock Food FestivalWhether you're a foodie or just enjoy sumptuous snacks, we all love a food festival! Tavistock hosts an annual food festival every September, which runs for two days. The Tavistock Food and Drink Festival is an unmissable Tavistock event for all visitors, as the programme is always brimming with delicious delights! With hundreds of stands showcasing the area’s finest produce and ingredients, plenty of opportunity to sample fome of the fantastic fodder and many recipes, demonstrations and even the odd cream tea – this event is jam packed with excitement year after year! This is definately Tavistock's most delicious event!

Westcountry Balloon FiestaThere is one Tavistock event that brings out the child in everyone, as Tavistock welcomes the annual Westcountry Balloon Fiesta! The Fiesta sees hundreds of bright hot air balloons descend upon the market town and treat visitors to spectacular displays. The night glow flight makes for an unforgettable sight above the town, and this Tavistock event is truly special. In the event of unsuitable weather for flying, the balloon teams welcome visitors to get up close to the balloons on the ground instead, so there is never any disappointment. As well as making for a beautiful event, all profits are donated to local charities.
