Ness Cove, TeignmouthNess Cove hides away in pretty Shaldon, near Teignmouth and is one of the finest South Devon beaches. This sandy cove can only be accessed by walking through an original smuggler’s tunnel, and the walk through to this scenic sandy beach brings to mind the shadowy characters who lurked in it all those years ago. Aside from the bonus of the smuggler’s tunnel, Ness Cove is also popular for its close parking, refreshments, toilets and deckchairs – everything you need for a relaxing trip to the former smuggling haunt! Disabled access is difficult due to some steps.

Oddicombe BeachAside from its impressive beach and wonderful scenery, the highlight of Torquay’s Oddicombe Beach above all others in the area is its very own cliff railway from Babbacombe Downs! The historic railway has been in operation since 1926 and enables visitors to this pretty South Devon Beach to reach it in style. There have been rock falls at Oddicombe Beach in recent years, but the relevant areas are cordoned off to ensure the safety of its visitors. There is a gentle walkwalk from Babbacombe Downs for those who don’t fancy the cable car, and this is also suitable for disabled visitors – although it may be steep to ascend.
