The Eden ProjectThe Eden Project is by far the most famous family attraction in South Cornwall, and there’s nowhere else quite like it. Eden strives to instil the importance of conservation into its visitors, and they are treated to a unique day at the same time. The Eden Project houses the world’s largest rainforest in captivity, and there are literally thousands of species of plant to admire in its biomes and grounds. If you’re wondering how children will find the attraction, don’t worry, as it was created with them in mind so that the message reaches our youths. |
The Fowey AquariumThe Fowey Aquarium is another fascinating family attraction in South Cornwall, and the best thing is it’s fun for visitors of all ages. The aquarium is situated beneath the former town hall, and offers a glimpse into the underwater worlds of the seas. The aquarium is open between May and December, and entry is just £1. The attraction places an emphasis on local sealife, bringing the town and its surrounding waters to life for young visitors, and there’s even a touch pool where the braver amongst you can reach in and touch some of the creatures too! |
Lost Gardens of HeliganAnother hidden treasure of a South Cornwall attraction is The Lost Gardens of Heligan. These historic gardens were a spectacular sight in the nineteenth century, but fell into an overgrown slumber and remained undiscovered...until that all changed in 1990! The journey that led to the restored gardens started when an inscription by the estate workers was found in an outside room, dated 1914. The dedicated team became inspired to restore the gardens in honour of the many that worked in them.

St George's IslandThis majestic South Cornwall attraction is also known as Looe Island, as it’s just across the water from the resort. This island lies just a mile off the coast, and is one mile in circumference. Don’t be fooled by its sedate appearance and modest size, St George’s history holds some surprises! When a pair of sisters decided to realise their dream of a private life on an island during the 1960s, they found the perfect place in this mild spot off the coast. They went ahead and bought the island and lived on it happily for 40 years, sadly both sisters have now passed away.

Antony HouseAntony House is not only a beautiful National Trust property but has also become an inspiring South Cornwall family attraction in recent times! The house came into its own when it was used as the setting for the Tim Burton film Alice in Wonderland, and it remains as the film crew left it...perfect for children! Tumble back into the days of your childhood as you wander the gardens and enjoy the stunning scenery that inspired Tim Burton to transoform it. This spectaculat mansion dates back to the 18 century and remains a family home.
