Wells may be a tiny city but it’s also a fascinating one, and Wells Walking Tours offer a choice of various guided walks that show the landmarks and the sights. The weekly Heritage Walk is one of the most popular, leaving from outside the Crown on Wednesdays at 11am throughout the summer season (between Easter and October).
Those visitors who recognise the city as the setting for the comedy Hot Fuzz can take in all the locations with the Hot Fuzz Film Location Walk. The tour enables fans of the film to follow in the hilarious footsteps of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and much of this walk centres around the beautiful village of Sandford.
It’s not only the big screen that’s made Wells famous, the Literary Walk takes in the areas that have inspired writers such as Henry James and Elizabeth Goudge), whilst the Ghost Walks takes visitors on a tour of the darker side of the city. With so much history throughout its streets Wells is packed with chilling tales and myths that’ll have those who brave the tour peering over their shoulders, and it’s great fun for adults. Every walk is accessible for those with pushchairs and wheelchairs.
