This four-mile walk in Taunton is perfect if you want to stretch your legs, and it starts right in the town centre. The walk is a scenic choice, following the River Tone towards the west of Taunton. There are no cafes of facilities along the way, so it’s an idea to stock up before you leave the town.
The walk explores the low lying water meadows and riverside scenery close to Taunton, so it’s best avoided after heavy rainfall due to the chance of floods. This is a circular walk. There are some interesting points of interest along the way, including Taunton Castle and Museum, Goodland Gardens and Silk Mills Road. You can also take a little detour and visit the village of Bishops Hull, which is home to a 13th century church (with a quirky octagonal tower).
