Allwynds - Middlezoy

A massive thank you to Nick and his family for the wonderful week we've just spent at Allwynds - Windmill Retreat in Middlezoy. Set in a tranquil, quaint country village within the Somerset levels. This quintessential village is ideal for anyone looking for a quality and relaxing retreat! It has warm and welcoming locals, with plenty of places to visit, all within easy driving distance. Lots of local and nearby history to explore, along with beautiful vistas. This beautiful high spec accommodation tastefully furnished, with a fabulous hot tub, was a pure joy to return home to after a long hard day spent sightseeing. A perfect home from home! A lovely family run business where the host and his family couldn't be more accommodating in making our stay a memorable one! Any query or assistance needed were met with friendly, prompt responses....always delivered with a smile! A truly relaxing week, which we are already planning to make a return to very soon! Fantastic

Wow! What else can you say about this place? We had an amazing time here. The owners were so welcoming and the house was fantastic. The bedrooms were amazing and the hot tub was just perfect to relax in. Loads to do in the area, walks in the countryside and lots to occupy the children. Would recommend a walk up 'Burrows Mump' or 'Brent Knoll' for those with a keen eye for photography or children who need a lot to wear them out. The only problem we had was having to leave!!!

The Wonderful Windmill Retreat is an absolute find !

We have just returned from a long weekend at the wonderful Windmill Retreat which is located in a rural secluded spot in the village of Middlezoy. We stayed in Allwynds which is one of four of these fabulous detached properties, which has been designed and finished to an extremely high specification offering luxurious spacious family accommodation with lots of special features. Including a contemporary open plan living area which incorporates a fully fitted kitchen, dining area and lounge with central log burner and French doors opening out onto a balcony which allows you to sit and relax whilst admiring views across the open countryside. The well planned ground floor has two double bedrooms one with ensuite, a twin room, master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and a large wet room, also with a TV in every room and large fitted robes. It is furnished throughout to a high standard with lots of attention to detail, the lovely owners have made sure there is everything you could possibly require for a comfortable and relaxing stay, making sure on arrival there is tea, coffee, milk and a hamper of goodies, also all necessities from washing up liquid to kitchen roll! This property also has a large hot tub and plenty of outdoor space which was excellent for the children who all thoroughly enjoyed themselves, so making it very child friendly. As mentioned the owners themselves are great to deal with especially Nick, nothing is a problem and he was happy to help us during our stay. The location is also great only a short drive from the motorway junction so a good base for visiting many local tourist attractions and a further bonus there is a great local pub only a 10 minute walk from the Retreat called The George which serves great food served by helpful friendly staff. As you can probably tell we all had a fabulous time and loved staying in this superior property which is great for a family and we will definitely look to return again very soon so can't recommend Allwynds enough. Also what a pleasure Blue Chip Holidays are to deal with very professional and a big thank you for helping us find Windmill Retreat.

Windmill Retreat or should I say Treat.

Our home for the week was 'Allwynds' Windmill Retreat, Middlezoy, Somerset. This was a stunning property set in beautiful countryside in a quiet village and had only been open for 5 weeks. We were met by the owner, Nick who was eager to show off the amenities and accommodation which was simply superb. Nick presented us with a welcome basket of local produce and drink which was much appreciated. He couldn't have been more helpful with information about the local area and told us to ring him if he could help in anyway. The wife and I could have spent the entire week just relaxing in the accommodation and of course the hot tub and our teenage sons, well lets just say the free Wi-Fi was all they needed. However, we did venture out and took advantage of the location to visit some local tourist spots including Wookey Hole Caves, Cheddar Gorge and some National Trust properties as being members and having not visited this area from East Yorkshire before. I thought Yorkshire was a beautiful place, but Somerset is clearly up there as well. This is a top class property delightful from the outside and even better within. We had great weather for our stay, one short shower one evening, but it was raining most nights inside the house with the help of a large wet room and the biggest shower head I have seen. It was a truly marvellous holiday to relax and unwind in Allwynds. Many Thanks S Cutts

Didn't want to come home.

Had a wonderful 3 days stay at Allwynds, looked just like it did on the website, very spacious, and a fab location, only 10min drive to Clarkes village. we managed to put the hot tub in sleep mode, but was sorted out within 30mins of reporting it, Nick the manager couldn't have been more attentive. When in the hot tub at night, think the property would benefit from an outside light, as it is very dark. We had such a lovely time we didn't want to come home, but unfortunately we couldn't stay as it was fully booked. I would definitely stay there again, and would be very happy to recommend it to family and friends.
