Sandown Beach is one of the Isle of Wight’s finest. This is the one with miles of golden sand, a Blue Flag and a traditional pleasure pier. Ever popular with beach lovers, visitors and surfers, Sandown Beach is the sandy jewel in the Isle of Wight’s crown and there’s plenty to see and do.
The pleasure pier is so traditionally English you’ll think you’ve stepped into a postcard, and it even has those kiss me quick style boards you can pop your head through for a funny holiday snap! It offers entertainment for all ages and it’s a nice place for a stroll while you take in the views – and there’s even a crazy golf course on it.
This is one of those beaches that you’ll easily spend a whole day on, so if you want to set up camp for the day you can hire deck chairs, sun loungers and other equipment to make a day of it. The esplanade is lined with souvenir shops, cafes and beach shops so it’ll only take minutes to pop and stock up on picnic food if you want to eat on the sand.
You’ll find plenty of parking just to the west of Sandown pier, and if you continue in this direction you’ll find trampolines and a beachside cafe that make the perfect places to end the day before heading back to your accommodation.
